It’s On!

Mark 9:7

Introduction: Certain things are meant to captivate our attention.

I.   Sin is like a veil that obstructs our sight, understanding and judgment.

  • After sin, Adam hides from God having that veil that does not allow him to see God’s grace, His unconditional, forgiving, Glorious Love for His creation but in fear only expects judgment, wrath, gloom and doom. (Genesis 3:9-10)
  • Peter, James, and John (Mark 9:2)
  • Being a product of sin, that veil remains.

II.   Jesus Transfiguration captivates our attention.

  • What He accomplishes (Mark 9:4)
  • On Jesus. Who He is. (Mark 9:7)
  • What He offers (Mark 9:9)

III.   Jesus Transfiguration changes us.

  • What we Hear (Word)
  • Who we are (Sacrament)
  • What we receive (Purpose)

As we hear the Benediction, we hear “The LORD make His face shine upon you” as we go home let us remember that transforming moment and live in such a way that others will see God’s glory through us, and by Christ be captivated, forgiven and redeemed.
